John Keightley Wright (1938-2007) of Akron, Ohio was a local history and theater enthusiast and brother of Ruth Wright Clinefelter, long-time professor and librarian at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK. The scrapbook was amassed by Wright and includes newspaper clippings, theater programs, and ticket stubs of various theaters in Akron, Ohio, mostly the Colonial Theatre.

McClain Collection includes the writings and research materials of Dr. McClain, a University of Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKalumna who was a public school educator and a Kent State University professor of education. McClain published over 45 academic papers during her career, but is still best known for her doctoral dissertation The Contributions of Blacks in Akron, 1825-1975, which was the first comprehensive history of Akron’s black community.

Lola K. Isroff (1909-2000) was an award-winning New York-born author, self-trained visual artist, and long-time Akron, Ohio resident. She is known for her folk memory paintings depicting historic architecture and vignettes of contemporary urban life that have been exhibited in major museums and galleries across the globe. Her papers document her life and work and consist of biographical information, photographs, artwork, writings by and about the artist, and materials documenting her travels.

Hower House, Friends of, Records

The Hower House is a 28-room Second Empire Italianate mansion in Akron, Ohio. Built in 1871 by Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKindustrialist John Henry Hower and his wife, the house was deeded to Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK in 1970 and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. In 1974 the Friends of Hower House was established to preserve the house and its furnishings and merged with the Hower House Victorians in 2016 to form the Hower House Museum Guild. The records document the Friends of Hower House, the Hower House Victorians, and the Conservation and Restoration Committee and includes meeting minutes, publications, and photographs and slides of the house, displays, and artifacts.

Due to a lack of resources and support, the GAAF dissolved in 1975 and the Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKArea Council for the Arts (AACA) was formed to educate and encourage the community in the appreciation, enjoyment, and support of the arts.
