A knowledge of the Arabic language and culture will offer individuals greater access to careers in fields such as business, diplomacy, journalism, public policy, healthcare, and more. In careers that involve interaction with native Arabic speakers, knowing Arabic will increase credibility and the ability to build strong relationships. |

The minor consists of 19 credit hours, including the following core courses. Intermediate Arabic I [ARAB 201], Intermediate Arabic II [ARAB 202], and Arabic Culture Through Film [ARAB 210]. After completing these courses, students will only need eight (8) credits of upper-level courses. It is worth noting that no more than ten (10) transfer credits and six (6) bypass credits may be counted toward the minor. |

ARABIC 201 - 4 CR.Students will learn to speak about personal experiences and various environments, initiate and sustain conversations as well as narrate in various topics. |
ARABIC 202- 4 CR.Students will continue to improve their oral and written language skills while becoming more familiar with Arabic culture and customs. |
ARABIC 210- 3 CR.Students will focus on key topics of Arabic culture and broadens their cultural horizons by viewing cinematic depictions from the Arabic countries.Prereqs: 32 credit hours incl. ENGL 111 & ENGL 112. |
ARABIC 301 - 4 CR.Students will further their development of language skills acquired at the Intermediate level. Course conducted in Arabic. Prereqs: Arabic 202 or equivalent. |
ARABIC 302 - 4 CR.Students will develop practical language skills and cultural enrichment with a focus on Arabic Media. Course conducted in Arabic. Prereqs: Arabic 202 or equivalent. |
ARABIC 303 - 4. CR.Students will enhance their skills by learning to read, appreciate and discuss Modern Arabic literature. Course conducted in Arabic. Prereqs: Arabic 202 or equivalent. |
ARABIC 304 - 4 CR.Students will enhance their communicative skills in Arabic with a focus on Arabic writing. Course conducted in Arabic. Prereqs: Arabic 202 or equivalent. |
ARABIC 311- 1-8 CR.Students may study abroad in an Arabic speaking country. Only 8 credits are allowable for the minor in Arabic. Please contact department for permission. Department permission required. |
ARABIC 497 - 1-4 CR.Individual study under the guidance of professor. May be repeated once with departmental permission. Prereqs: Arabic 202 or equivalent with department permission. |
