Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw announces comprehensive partnership with bar review leader BARBRI

01/08/2019

Students at Â鶹ÊÓƵAPK School of Law will be provided with additional comprehensive and tailored support services to help ensure academic success and passage of the bar exam, thanks to a comprehensive four-year partnership with the School announced with bar review leader BARBRI.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw-BARBRI Partnership for Student Success will begin this spring semester with enhanced classes in Advanced Legal Analysis (bar skills) and Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) Strategies along with access for all spring 2019 graduates to BARBRI’s post-graduation bar prep program.

OUR GOAL is for Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw students to pass the bar exam on their first try in whatever state they choose, so they can embark on a successful career in their chosen field.’

— Christopher J. (C.J.) Peters, dean, University of Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKSchool of Law

Through the partnership, all Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw students pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree, from entering 1Ls to May 2019 graduates, will have immediate access to BARBRI’s extensive bar review content. All JD students will be able to take BARBRI’s renowned bar review course after graduation. All of this will come at no additional cost to students (other than a $250 refundable deposit and $30 shipping fee for BARBRI course materials).

“Our goal is for Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw students to pass the bar exam on their first try in whatever state they choose, so they can embark on a successful career in their chosen field,” said Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw Dean Christopher J. (C.J.) Peters. “Combined with our other Academic Success Program offerings, this new Partnership for Student Success with BARBRI gives Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw one of the most innovative and advanced bar preparation programs in the country.

“BARBRI was the first bar review program of its kind and remains the number one choice for bar exam preparation nationwide,” Peters noted. “More students have passed the bar exam using BARBRI than all other courses combined.

“While our new BARBRI partnership is similar to models that have been successful at other schools, the details of the partnership will be tailored to the specific needs of Â鶹ÊÓƵAPKLaw students,” Peters said.

“Additional BARBRI services, many of which will be implemented over the course of the partnership, include:

  • Diagnostic tests to assess students subject mastery and analytical skill competency that will permit early intervention to address weaknesses.
  • Courses, including an intensive pre-matriculation course, a second course focusing on the Multistate Performance Test, and a variety of workshops.
  • Student resources, including subject-matter videos and outlines for the core 1L and 2L courses, multiple-choice training tools for all subjects tested on the MBE, and a question bank designed to simulate the questions on the MBE.
  • Analytics allowing us to track student progress and trends on both the individual level and the larger cohort level and focus any remediation efforts as needed.”
